Privacy Policy

Boardcast is a free surf conditions app. We respect your privacy and collect only what's needed to make the app work.

What we collect

• Account data — If you sign in, we store your email address and authentication credentials via Supabase Auth.
• Surf preferences — Your skill level, wave/wind preferences, boards, and settings. Stored locally and synced to Supabase if signed in.
• Session history — Sessions you log (date, time, location, rating, notes). Stored locally and synced to Supabase if signed in.
• Location — The native app uses your device location to auto-select your nearest surf spot. Location is processed on-device only and never stored on our servers.
• Health data — With your permission, the native app reads surf workouts from Apple Health or Health Connect to import your session history. Health data is processed on-device to match sessions with surf spots and is never sent to our servers.
• Analytics — We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics (page views, feature usage). No personal data is sent. You can block this with any ad blocker.

What we don't collect

• We don't store your GPS location on our servers. Location is used on-device only.
• We don't store your health data on our servers. It's processed on-device only.
• We don't sell or share your data with third parties.
• We don't show ads.

Data storage

Your data is stored in your browser's localStorage (always) and in Supabase (if signed in). Supabase data is protected by row-level security — only you can access your own data.

Third-party services

• Supabase — Authentication and data sync. Privacy policy
• Open-Meteo — Weather and marine forecast data. No personal data sent.
• NOAA — Tide data. No personal data sent.
• PostHog — Anonymous analytics. Privacy policy
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI surf coach features. Session data is sent to generate personalized tips. Privacy policy

Data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data from the Profile screen in the app. On the web, sign out and clear your browser data. You can also request server-side deletion by emailing us at the address below.
